Royal Enfield Flying Flea Electric Bike Lands In India

Royal Enfield has showcased the Flying Flea electric motorcycle in India. The bike was first showcased at the EICMA 2024 motor show in Milan, Italy. The first Royal Enfield electric bike has arrived in India and it looks stunning.

Royal Enfield Flying Flea Design

The Royal Enfield Flying Flea C6 has a unique retro-roadster design inspired by the World War II-era Flying Flea motorcycle. The bike features a round LED headlight with round LED indicators. One of the most interesting design aspects is the girder fork, which is quite rare in modern bikes. It has a tapered teardrop-shaped “tank” and a scooped single-piece seat, the pillion can be mounted just like the Royal Enfield Shotgun 650. The battery pack is located under the “tank” and has cooling-fins. At the rear, the Flying Flea gets a clean look with a braced rear fender, fender-mounted tail light and indicators.

Battery and Underpinnings

While Royal Enfield has not unveiled the official specifications of the motorcycle, the electric bike is likely to feature performance equivalent to a 250-300cc ICE motorcycle to extract modest range from a reasonably sized battery pack. The suspension unit includes a girder fork and a monoshock. The bike features disc brakes at both ends and 19-inch alloy wheels. The rear-wheel is driven via a belt drive.

Bike Features

The Royal Enfield Flying Flea C6 features a 3.5-inch round touch-enabled TFT instrument console. It displays basic information such as speed, odometer, trip meter, state of charge, range and more. The console also supports smartphone connectivity which enables Google Maps navigation, voice assist, call and SMS alerts, music controls, ride telemetry data and remote lock and unlock. The tachometer in the TFT display also acts as a torque band indicator as it will also show how much torque you have left.

Another interesting feature is Google Maps navigation. The maps will not only give you directions but also show you how much battery it will take to reach the destination, calculate traffic, distance and other metrics. The bike also has three charging modes: trickle, standard and rapid, and a wireless phone charger located in the tank enclosure.

The Flying Flea also has keyless ignition and an emergency safety switch located on the tank. An alarm will also come on your smartphone when someone tampers with the locked bike.

Rider Aids

It has dual-channel lean sensitive ABS that can also be switched on for the rear wheel, cruise control, 2 levels of region braking, 3 levels of traction control, 5 riding modes: Eco, Rain, Tour, Performance and Custom mode that can also be customized via a smartphone.

Conclusion

Royal Enfield has partnered with Spanish electric motorcycle manufacturer, Stark Mobility to create the Flying Flea C6 electric motorcycle. Once launched, it is likely to be followed by the scrambler-styled Flying Flea S6 electric bike. This collaboration is very strategic, as Starck is going to help Royal Enfield design innovating motor controllers, battery controllers and their integration. In return, Royal Enfield will provide them their expertise to scale the business and improve supply chain operations. The Flying Flea is expected to be priced at Rs 4.5 lakh (ex-showroom) and could be launched in India in March 2026.
