BMW Motorrad’s upcoming adventure motorcycle F 450 GS has been spied testing once again. This time, the bike looks almost production-ready as it features some interesting changes compared to the concept model that was first showcased at the 2024 EICMA show in November last year.

The first thing that will grab your attention is the headlight. The bike that has been spied testing features a vertically stacked dual-LED setup unlike the concept model. Personally, we are relieved as this will ensure a good visual difference from the R 1300 GS (which features an X-shaped headlight just like the F 450 GS concept). Overall, the bodywork on the spied version looks similar to the concept model.

Other changes seen on the concept model include the addition of alloy wheels, which look similar to the ones on the R 1300 GS. The concept model had a 21/17-inch cross-spoke tubeless wheel setup with knobby tyres, while the spied bike has a 19/17-inch alloy wheel setup with dual-purpose tyres. The F 450 GS also features a golden coloured handlebar, which matches well with the golden coloured forks. Other changes on the concept include radially mounted Bybre brake calipers at the front, Bybre calipers at the rear, different exhaust, split-seat setup, larger windscreen and different rear sprocket. There are also saddle stays, sump guards, knuckle guards and a top box (some or all of which could be offered as accessories), pillion grabrails and a different LED taillight. Interestingly, the taillight looks similar to the G 310 GS, which has been discontinued in India.
BMW Motorrad also revealed the engine specifications of the F 450 GS concept model and it is likely that the engine will be built in collaboration with TVS. It will have a 450cc liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine that makes 48PS. The kerb weight of the concept model is just 175 kg, but only time will tell how much the production bike will weigh. Apart from the engine, the bike features long-trail suspension at both ends and the spy shots also reveal that the forks will be non-adjustable. Also, the subframe is different compared to the concept.
BMW F 450 GS Engine and Features
While it was no secret that the upcoming baby GS will feature a TFT console, recent spy shots have revealed that the bike will feature a rotary-style dial on the left side of the handlebar to navigate through the TFT. This is something we have seen on the larger GS model as well. Also, we expect BMW Motorrad to leave no stone unturned and give the F 450 GS all the best features, such as lean-sensitive traction control, cornering ABS, and possibly multiple ride modes.

While BMW Motorrad hasn’t revealed an official launch date for the F 450 GS, the brand did say in an Instagram post in February that the bike is arriving before the end of the year. The motorcycle is expected to be unveiled at the 2025 EICMA Motor Show in November and make its India debut either by the end of this year or early next year.
As for pricing, the BMW badge will be premium and is expected to be priced around Rs 5 lakh (ex-showroom). Once launched, it will rival the Honda NX500 and the upcoming CFMoto 450 MT – both of which have sub-500cc parallel twin motors. But more affordable single-cylinder ADVs with comparable performance include the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450, KTM 390 Adventure and the upcoming Hero Xpulse 421 in India.
